Five and a quarter hours driving, 31.90 euro toll, 35 euro lunch, toilet stops, lots of sleeping (me) and we're here at Hotel Defino, Venezia Mestre (Venice).
I forgot to leave the garage keys in the apartment but had already locked the apartment keys in :( We left a note and the keys with the portiere who spoke no English which reminds me we must email the Manager and let her know. Luigi did a great job diverting us around Rome so that we didn't have to go through the centre which was his first calculation. Um, but then we took a wrong turn, actually a couple, and ended up exactly in the midst of it all and the traffic. We got to see the Colloseo again ;) and with Dave's brilliant driving we got out safe and sound and were "on the road again."
