ARRIVED IN ROMA

Before I start Dave wants me to tell you he had wild boar stew for dinner last night and it was delicious!

We managed to successfully send another parcel of goodies home this morning before leaving Firenze. It's gonna be like Christmas all over again when we return home :)

We were told NOT to drive in Rome however upon investigating accommodation, distances, etc we decided to risk it and do exactly what we were told not to do and honestly, it was a piece of cake. Other than encountering heavy traffic which slowed us down somewhat we arrived in tact and in one piece.

Now, our accommodation. We were beginning to think we'd be sleeping in the car for the night as we couldn't get hold of the Manager. We were at the right address but pressing the buzzer which clearly stated Tourist House we got an Italian speaking lady who didn't speak a word of English. Our mobile phones had no service and I was beginning to think it was a scam and they had our credit card details. Dave took the laptop and showed someone the details who called the phone number and the Manager came to meet us and let us in. Let's just say it's not of the usual standard we're used to (doesn't look too much like the photos) but it'll do and at 115 euro per night and a 10 minute train ride from Rome's historic centre we're not complaining.

Bruschetta al Pomodoro has become a favourite food along with Margherita Pizza. So well fed, we're off to bed ready for a big day tomorrow.
