STAWESOME IN HANOI

A jetlagged night. We all retired around 7.30 pm. Around 1 am I woke and laid in bed willing myself back to sleep only for Sofie to come strolling in bright as a button at 2.22 am thinking it was 9.30 am (according to Jason's phone). I took her back to her room only to find Jason and Jayden both up and awake, lights on fully, playing Nintendo's. I told them it was still the middle of the night and to go back to sleep. I was up then around 9 am, woke Jason, and Dave not long after. When it came to Sofie and Jayden though it was a different matter. We had to drag them out at 12.30 pm.

At 1.30 pm we were picked up for our tour of The Temple of Literature. We all really enjoyed seeing and feeling the Vietnamese culture.

Another short car trip and we were at The Ngoc Son Temple and Hoan Kiem Lake.

Walking around the lake was very tranquil and peaceful.

It was then time go to the Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre.

Crossing the road Dave and Sofie decided we were "Stawesome" (stupid + awesome). In a straight line, no pedestrian crossing or lights, we took on the traffic on a major road. The movie doesn't really do it justice. See it here. Our tour guide told us this was the way to do it.

Unfortunately our water puppet photos didn't turn out too well but there's a snippet here. The puppets are made out of wood and then lacquered and performed in a waist deep pool.

Walking home we bought some t-shirts (5 for US$10). This lady picked Jayden up for a cuddle.

Enjoying the Vietnamese food but tomorrow Dave and Jason are in for a real treat ;)

More photos here.
