YEARS OF HISTORY

Yesterday was a TRIFFIC day out seeing years of history. First stop, "Stonehenge." This great and ancient stone circle is unique. We took the complimentary audio tour around the circle and discovered the history and legends surrounding it. We all found it fascinating albeit freezing cold in the wind (for some of us anyway). Stonehenge photos here.

"Woodhenge" was our next destination. Originally a wooden structure of a type similar to Stonehenge. See photos here.

"Old Sarum Castle," originally a hill fort strategically placed now remaining only some of the stone walls. The 360 degree views were spectacular. Photos here.

Our last stop was Salisbury Cathedral, Britain's finest 13th century cathedral. A quick decision made (the next tour departing in 2 minutes) saw Dave go to the very top of Britain's tallest spire whilst I took the kids shopping in the mall and for icecream and chocolate ;) Photos here.

(Unable to write more detail today as it's been a race against the battery going flat)

  1. Hi Shelly, your trip looks fantastic. I read a book called 'Sarum' about the (fictional, but based on fact) history of England. Just loved it. Really enjoyed these photos. Essie aka Erika
